Most people were going to Paris, but I got extremely lucky and very soon found a couple taking me all the way to Düsseldorf, Germany!
I arrived there when it was already dark so it was a plus that you can technically reach Orleans by public transport if you don’t have a tent nor want to spend the night outside. Also there is probably more traffic there in summer or during the day with people going further than Paris

It’s really a bad place with only like 10 trucks - I, solo female, started feeling unsafe quickly but I got extremely lucky and found two very nice truck drivers who offered me food and coffee and after waiting with them until their break was over (4 hours😭) because no one else would take me / my motivation to ask truck drivers in the rain was not so high either they took me to orleans. But on the positive side it’s walkable distance to some small city so you’re not completely lost in the wild as I felt at first.

its a peage/toll station. not much cars, but enough to get a ride fast. it worked good in direction tours.

DIRECTION BLOIS-TOURS
Anyway the sidewalk is too big and the speed too fast. However it works better when the traffic is low and if you have a sign to "st jean de la ruelle", keep walking...
DIRECTION PARIS Take the bus to go to the toll is the best solution

DIRECTION PARIS - TOURS
A toll is always a good place, and ths one is in the north near from the industries, so maybe good to go really far with a truck.
Waiting : 15/ 25 min
Traffic : 15 cars and truck by minute
Speed : low (toll)

DIRECTION BLOIS-TOURS

Waiting : 5/10 minutes
Speed : 40 km/h
Traffic : 25 cars by minutes

I use this spot quite often and it worked well most of the time. You can use it for all highway directions if you get a ride to the big Orleans-Saran service Area (10 km heading to Paris). There you can cross the highway to head south!!

In 2 persons got a ride in 20 minutes almost directly under the Tour Eiffel! Too lucky?

Yep, no need to hitch from here! Head north to the station service towards Paris/Tours/East instead, a mere 5min walk on a paved road.

I had a horrible experience here. I was trying to get onto the A71 with a sign. After many many hours I decided to head North towards Paris and get off at a station service or another junction. Excellent spot for going north. Anything else - this is a terrible place!

found a ride to Millau, south of France, really easily, there are so many people going south, to Bordeaux or Clermont Ferrand.

Busy place. Easy to change sides thanks to the restaurant bridge. Also easy to reach from the Saran-Gidy street (one fence to climb).
11AM heading south: Possibilities for far rides up to Spain; sadly no-one going to the city or Orléans.
10AM heading north: 80% going to Paris, finally found someone going east towards Switzerland.

Crowded place, many cars. Never had to wait for when going to the Basque Country/Morroco
